Description Ingo Steuwer univentionstaff 2013-04-08 09:16:38 CEST
Descritpion-attributes are available for most LDAP-Objects. We should use the multiline widget to have easier editing of longer descriptions.

If needed, this can be done explicitly by overwriting the Syntax:

> ucr set directory/manager/web/modules/users/user/properties/description/syntax=TextArea

IMHO, for the general case, the single line filed should be OK, or do I not see it right?

I'd like to see a bigger description as default. i.E., one would want to document several things about a server/computer (which services it has, which hardware it runs on) or a group (for what reason it was created).

OK, so this would apply to practically all UDM objects then.
Comment 4 Stefan Gohmann univentionstaff 2017-06-16 20:38:30 CEST
This issue has been filed against UCS 3. UCS 3 is out of the normal maintenance and many UCS components have vastly changed in UCS 4.

If this issue is still valid, please change the version to a newer UCS version otherwise this issue will be automatically closed in the next weeks.

@Ingo: are you okay with this look?
Comment 6 Florian Best univentionstaff 2021-02-18 12:50:55 CET
Patch in git:fbest/30993-multiline-descriptions which makes the descriptions of all UDM modules multilined.

Thanks for the first implementation!

I thin we need to review this after we applied the new font size and margins. As of now, the text area is too small IMHO and should fill both columns.
