Description Felix Botner univentionstaff 2013-06-27 17:34:55 CEST
setup-join.sh sets the ucrv mail/alias/root (/etc/aliases) but does not update the alias cache with "newaliases" and then, after the system-setup-boot, mails to user "root" will disappear into the mail nirvana.

FQDN before system-setup-boot: master.univention.qa
FQDN after sytem-setup-boot: master.test.fb

This bug was annoying in ucs-test scripts that were trying to send test mails.

Despite that, mails from system services (cron, ...) to root@ and systemmail@ will not be delivered and will "vanish" due to the double bounce (mentioned above). I think this affects all amazon instances and VMWare appliances.

The solution is very simple: call the command "newaliases".

With UCS this also happens after the installation.
Comment 4 Stefan Gohmann univentionstaff 2014-11-12 11:20:36 CET
We should addd a UCR module which executes newaliases.

Comment 6 Felix Botner univentionstaff 2014-11-12 12:37:41 CET
Added an UCR script /etc/univention/templates/scripts/etc/aliases to update (newaliases) /etc/aliases.db.

QA please test if mail delivery works (mail to root -> /var/spool/mail/systemmail) directly after the installation.
Comment 7 Stefan Gohmann univentionstaff 2014-11-13 06:24:01 CET
OK, it works.
