Univention Bugzilla – Bug 40297
docs.univention.de doesn't set correct caching headers
Last modified: 2024-04-17 13:16:30 CEST
I always need to press F5 so that the content on docs.univention.de gets updated. As the HTTP response doesn't contain a Cache-Control header caches are allowed to apply a heuristic on how long the content may be cached - The E-Tag and Last-Modified time is therefore ignored as browsers usually don't do conditional requests for long-cacheable resources. We should allow a maximum cache time of 1 hour?!: Cache-Control: max-age=3600 http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc7234#section-5.2.1.1 https://redbot.org/?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fdocs.software-univention.de%2Fen.html
This is noticed recurrently if e.g. new release notes are published and the overview pages still seem to be outdated (for QA or customers). Also manual updates/fixes may not be detected by customers because of caching.
This bug hasn't seen any update for several years. I close it. If you still see a need for it, you can reopen the bug. Please add an argumentation about why it's important to take care of it.
