Description Michael Grandjean univentionstaff 2015-12-21 21:17:54 CET
As discussed on the internal list, using "Domain controller" for UCS Master/Backup/Slave roles AND for the Active Directory Domain controller function is highly confusing.

In a first stept, we could discard the "Domain controller" from the role names in the manual (changing this in the product itself might be something for a major release) as follows:

Domain controller master → UCS master
Domain controller backup → UCS backup
Domain controller slave → UCS slave

Then, only installing the "Active Directory-Compatible Domain Controller"-App makes the UCS master/backup/slave a "Domain Controller".

PS: master/slave is imho very problematic and should be changed, too. That should be part of another bug, though.

With UCS 5.0 the roles in UCS have been renamed. See https://www.univention.com/blog-en/2021/05/release-univention-corporate-server-5-0-2/

I close this bug.
