Univention Bugzilla – Bug 45465
Describe how the UCS ISO Image can be copied to a USB stick
Last modified: 2020-07-02 17:20:22 CEST
It is possible to copy the UCS ISO image to an USB stick for installation. The method to be used is dd. I'd like to see a short knowledge base article that describes the procedure similar to the Debian FAQ entry: https://www.debian.org/CD/faq/#write-usb
I often had probs when creating an usb stick from an iso with dd so I changed to https://etcher.io/ - worth to mention.
You even can use "sudo cp UCS_4.2-2-amd64.iso /dev/sdX". But make absolutely sure to pick the right /dev/sdX: `lsblk` helps a lot.
And we already have <https://help.univention.com/t/ucs-3-0-von-usbstick-installieren/1470/8>, so maybe move this bug to "UCS Manual"? <https://www.univention.de/download/ucs-download/iso-installationsimage/> mentions that you can also use a USB stick, but does not tell you how to do it.
Changes and improvements for SDB entries aren't tracked in Bugzilla anymore, so I close these entries. Please comment on help.univention.com or get in touch with the Univention Support team in case you have any suggestions for the SDB.
