serial console output of VM

UCS installer with graphic issues. Unable to see anything in virtual console output (see attached screenshots).
Installer in text mode also with graphic issue (grey screen with black lines).

Following kernel options were tried without an effect on the graphic issue:
* nosplash
* nomodeset
* vga=800 (or some other options)
* without vga=* -> black screen
* acpi=off
* video=vesa:ywrap,mtrr
* bochs_drm.fbdev=off

Also tried UCS 4.2-2 iso with same effect.

UCS 4.1-4 iso and the UCS-VMware-ESX-Demo-Image.ova works.

Attached are some screenshots of the vm config and the log file of the serial console.

There is a workaround:
=> set the "compatible with" to "ESXi 6.0 or higher" instead of "ESXi 6.5 or higher".
Problem: this option has to be set during the configuration of the virtual machine!

Additional info:

Debian installer works fine: debian-9.3.0-amd64-netinst.iso

Do you know if it works with UCS 4.3? Debian 9 is Debian Stretch which is the base for UCS 4.3.

If it doesn't work, can attach the UCS 4.3 boot logs?

I don't know if UCS 4.3 works. It should work, as Debian 9 installer worked fine.

Can confirm: UCS 4.3-2 and 4.3-3 both work with "ESXi 6.5 or higher".

I suggest to document the workaround on help.univention.com for 4.2 and then close this bug.
