Univention Bugzilla – Bug 47431
Black screen after installation in Hyper V
Last modified: 2021-05-14 16:34:03 CEST
Installing UCS in Hyper V is described here: https://wiki.univention.de/index.php/Cool_Solution_-_Installing_UCS_in_Microsoft_Hyper-V The installation itself works but after the final reboot the screen stays black. There is only quick video output from Grub and the Univention Boot Splash. Then however, the resolution is resized and the screen turns black. Please feel free to move to this to another component because I'm not sure whats causing the problem here.
Does the installation with the Hyper-V Image from https://www.univention.de/download/download-ucs/ work?
See Ticket#2019031521000464 for more information about an environment where the case happens. Furthermore, Erik has tested it with Windows 10 Pro and a generation 1 vm and could reproduce the problem. The UCS appliance is working though and the system setup starts. But the bootsplash is black and thus does not show the welcome screen with the IP address to use. This is very confusing to the user.
In the original Bug scenerio it was possible to Gen 1 as a workaround. Sounds a bit like this? * https://superuser.com/questions/1241327/hyper-v-white-black-window * https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/e7decb87-46ea-4906-9f4c-927da2d2c8d2/ubuntu-16041-lts-plymouth-blank-splash-screen-on-windows-10-hyperv?forum=linuxintegrationservices
Bug #39339 mentions something that may be related. According to that bug, setting the "nosplash" boot option in grub may be a workaround?
A possible workaround is described here: https://help.univention.com/t/12570/4 --> /etc/default/grub i change the line to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="" and then update-grub after reboot everythink was OK <--
