Im UMC-Online-Update-Modul wird bei aktiviertem Easy-Mode nur UCR-Variable "update/available" als Kriterium für anstehende Updates verwendet. 
Im Normal-Modus führt das Modul selbständig Checks durch, ob Updates vorhanden sind. Das sollte der Easy-Mode ebenfalls durchführen.

Auf meinem Testsystem funktioniert das noch nicht:

ucr set update/umc/updateprocess/easy=true
ucr set version/version='3.0' version/patchlevel=3

root@master311:~# univention-upgrade --check 

Starting univention-upgrade. Current UCS version is 3.0-3 errata0

Checking for local repository:                          none
Checking for release updates:                           found: UCS 3.1-0
Please rerun command without --check argument to install.

Im UMC Modul wird mir das Update aber erst angezeigt, wenn ich update/available auf true setze.

Ich hatte den Bug anders verstanden:

Man muss schon auf das Update-Modul gehen, um zu überprüfen, ob Updates vorhanden sind. Das Problem war, dass der "normale Modus" relativ clever herausgefunden hat, ob Updates nötig sein werden, easy_mode hingegen hat sich nur auf diese UCR-Variable verlassen (das wurde jetzt hoffentlich geändert).

Was Du beschreibst ist ein anderes Problem: Die Übersicht verlässt sich offenbar auch nur auf updates/available (bzw. updates/available wird nicht immer korrekt gesetzt).

Soll das in dem Bug mitgefixt werden?

Huch, nein, jetzt bin ich komplett durcheinander gekommen. Sieht doch so aus, als sei da was faul.
