Univention Bugzilla – Bug 30158
Removal of the VNC UMC module
Last modified: 2013-11-19 06:44:28 CET
For 3.2, the VNC UMC module will be removed.
As alternative xrdp can be used as remote administration. It will be added to the App Center soon.
Package has been removed from SVN. postup.sh has been adapted to remove the package when updating to UCS 3.2. Changelog created. Package: univention-updater Version: 9.0.1-1.1182.201307041156
When upgrading from 3.1-1 to 3.2-0 the VNC module is uninstalled but afterwards installable again: apt.Cache()['univention-management-console-module-vnc'].candidate.filename => 3.1-0/all/univention-management-console-module-vnc_2.0.3-1.14.201211061901_all.deb The user can install a fully functional VNC module. This is not intended as the module is not longer maintained and not supported. Please provide some kind of transitional package
Added transitional package: univention-management-console-module-vnc (3.0.0-1) Package has also been build.
Ok, changelog updated (added this bug's Comment 1)
(In reply to Florian Best from comment #4) > Added transitional package: univention-management-console-module-vnc > (3.0.0-1) > Package has also been build. Just for the record for future module removals (we can keep the current solution), an easier solution would have been to add a Breaks: univention-management-console-module-vnc to one of the central UMC packages. That would have uninstalled the package during upgrades and would have prevented future installation of the package as well.
