Description Arvid Requate univentionstaff 2013-08-26 10:33:00 CEST
From one project we received an inquiry about possible performance enhancements for Samba file servers. Since Samba 3.6.0 the upstream team fully supports SMB version 2, so we should advertise this at least in the performance guide.

Reported at Ticket #2013082721004869

The UCR variable for changing the protocol version is called samba/max/protocol. The value for activating version 2 is "smb2".

If the default is only changed for newly installed systems, we should mention that in the release notes for updated systems.

Documented in Chapter 4.4 of the release notes (Updating the supported protocols for Samba file services)
