Windows profile not loaded during student logon due to old smbd keeping lock

Observed during UCS@school 4.3 product tests: Windows profile not loaded during student logon because a previous smbd is keeping an exclusive lock on the user profile. Procedure: Student account logs on successfully to windows client first time and changes password sucessfully (alt-ctrl-del). Then the Admin opens UMC and sets the must change password flag. Student logs off and on again. Password change dialog works. But the profile doesn't load. While writing this bug report the smbd process disappeared and user profile stored and loaded successfully.
This issue has been filed against UCS@school 4.3 or earlier. UCS 4.3 is out of maintenance and UCS components have vastly changed in later releases. Thus, this issue is now being closed. If this issue still occurs in newer UCS versions, please use "Clone this bug" or reopen this issue. In this case please provide detailed information on how this issue is affecting you.
