Univention Bugzilla – Bug 49414
A DFS namespaces created via UCS cannot be displayed or managed by windows
Last modified: 2019-05-06 15:21:53 CEST
Created attachment 10003 [details] Error-messages A customer configured a DFS shares as described in our manual. http://docs.software-univention.de/handbuch-4.3.html#shares::msdfs He can access the share via windows and both configured destinations can be accessed. He now wants to manage the dfs-namespaces via windows DFS-management, but he gets error messages, when he tryes to list the namespace or to create one. Does samba support this feature. I just find the description here: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Distributed_File_System_(DFS) and I am not sure. I could reproduce this in my testenvironment, having two shares one on my backup and one on my slave. I configured the share as described in the manual and I get the same error messages as the customer. See some screenshots attached.

From reading the current samba wiki documentation and grepping through the sourcecode I think that the "netdfs" RPC pipe is not implemented currently. From reading [MS-DFSNM] I think that's the one used for namespace management.
