Univention Bugzilla – Bug 51176
saslauthd refuses to authenticate
Last modified: 2022-12-17 09:08:38 CET
Symptom: Users can not send authenticated emails using SMTPS and/or Submission messages in var/log/mail.log: Apr 27 12:33:35 mailserver postfix/smtps/smtpd[20347]: warning: SASL authentication failure: cannot connect to saslauthd server: Connection refused Apr 27 12:34:56 mailserver postfix/submission/smtpd[21142]: warning: SASL authentication failure: cannot connect to saslauthd server: Connection refused Obversation: no running saslauthd process, according to /var/log/univention/system-stats.log all preforked saslauthd processes have disappeared step by step. The root cause is currently unknown. Restarting saslauthd (see https://help.univention.com/t/problem-saslauthd-refuses-to-authenticate/10152) helps until next occurence. The only known longer-term workaround is to disable preforking by setting UCRV mail/saslauthd/threads=0.
