There are several open issues regarding the documentation and additionsl configuration of fail2ban
bug 40815
bug 42952
bug 44548

I assume that the question in bug 42952, comment 1 may got no response because of the chosen component.

As we are running some UCS machines directly connected to the open internet we can see the need of additional security methods like the one that can be provided by fail2ban.
Using unmaintained has caused lots of issues during upgrades in the past so it would be nice if fail2ban could be added to the maintained repository.
