Description Moritz Muehlenhoff univentionstaff 2013-02-06 14:47:36 CET
univention-join cannot be used on a live-booted UCC system. It provides an option -force to override that check, which could be used for testing/debugging purposes.

This option doesn't work correctly, since switching to Network Manager in aborts the connection to the NFS-mounted root device.

Workaround: Uncomment the following line in univention-join
ucr set interfaces/eth0/type="" >>/var/log/univention/join.log 2>&1

Also joining a live-booted client modifies the "boot variant" to "Local boot without update check" which won't work since a live boot performs no installation.

We should simply drop the option "-force" in for 1.1

I think it is an important test feature.

Will be kept as a test/debugging feature.
