review quota implementation: shares vs. partitions
Last modified: 2017-08-08 07:09:42 CEST
The current implementations for filesystem quotas is inconsequent: - in UDM, quota-policies are combined with shares - in UMC, quotas are shown for partitions Technically correct is the combination of quotas and partitions. For most administrators, it is easier to think about shares (or the "task" assigned to a share) instead of partitions. In UDM, only shares are available. The integration of quotas and shares/partitions should be revised, possible approaches: 1. UMC only - remove filesystem-quota-policies from UDM - add the "default-quota"-functionalities into the UMC-modules - add informations about the shares on a partition Draback: no central management 2. better UDM integration - add partitions to UDM (attribute at the share, standalone object, ...?) - combine default quotas with partitions 3. ..?
