Description Moritz Muehlenhoff univentionstaff 2014-07-04 12:15:02 CEST
We created the samba 4 quick start guide when UCS 3.0 was released with an early Samba 4 release. At that time the separate quick start guide was useful to prevent users from running into potential configuration issues and features which were not fully implemented. Many of these have changed in the current UCS release:

- Samba DCs now provide stable file/print services without requiring an additional member server
- UCS provides signed NTP information as required by Windows
- Samba has been fixed to automatically correct the time sources of a Windows client when joining the domain

We should rempove the quick start guide and amend the "Samba 4" app in the Univention App Center with an exhaustive description whoch points to the documentation for

- Joining Windows clients into a Samba domain
- Applying and configuring group policies

Changes for the wiki pages aren't tracked anymore in Bugzilla. Most of the changes should be done on help.univention.com anyway, please start threads there or get in touch with the Univention Support team.
