Univention Bugzilla – Bug 44531
Consider to use the LTS Enablement Stacks
Last modified: 2023-06-28 10:33:31 CEST
Canonical offers the "Ubuntu LTS enablement stacks" (also called HWE or Hardware Enablement) that provide newer kernel and X support for existing Ubuntu LTS releases. We should consider to integrate those into UCC. E.g. for 16.04, this would upgrade the kernel from 4.4 to 4.8. → https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack
This was introduced in Ubuntu 16.04.2: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/RollingLTSEnablementStack The hwe packages are the new default that is shipped with Ubuntu desktop ISOs For testing, the following can be executed on a UCC 3 desktop: sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-16.04 xserver-xorg-hwe-16.04
UCC is EoL
