Univention Bugzilla – Bug 52312
Symlinks between Samba shares not working - parameter "allow insecure wide links" missing
Last modified: 2020-11-04 16:16:54 CET
For enabling symlinks between different Samba shares, the UCR variable samba/wide_links must be set to yes. That is already possible using the UCR. But that is not enough, symnlinks are not working if only this parameter is set. IMHO, it is also necessary, that either the samba parameter “unix extensions” is set to “no” (default is “yes”) or the parameter “allow insecure wide links" is set to "yes”. If one of these options is added manually to the smb.conf, the symlinks between the Samba shares work, otherwise I get an error in Windows Explorer. Unfortunally, the manually added parameter gets lost, if the smb.conf is rewritten by univention scripts, and the links stop working (the users will get errors). Therfore I think, it would be a good improvement, if one or both of the mentioned parameters could be configured via UCR. Could you please check, if an additional UCR for “unix extensions” or “allow unsecure wide links” is an option to fix the problem described above? It seems to me, the behavior was alreadey described in some bugs, but not yet fixed: https://forge.univention.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=17593 https://forge.univention.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=34426 https://forge.univention.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=44891
