Univention Bugzilla – Bug 32668
User should always (if possible) upload x86 and x64 printer drivers
Last modified: 2018-04-14 13:34:12 CEST
As mentioned in the Samba wiki it is important that the user uploads drivers for both architectures as it is not possible to "add" another architecture afterwards. <https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_as_a_print_server#Uploading_printer_drivers_for_Point.27n.27Print_driver_installation> If you have to provide a printer driver for x86 and x64 plattforms, you have to upload them from a x64 machine. A x86 client can only upload x86 drivers, while a x64 client can do both. It's important, that if you want to provide printing support for multiple platforms on one printer, that you upload drivers for both, that have exactly the same driver name! Otherwise, the driver for the different platforms can't be associated. If there is only x64 driver, an x86 will assume that one as x86 driver and fails (with some wired error message) during installation.
This has it support several times in the last couple of weeks so it would be nice to have this one in the next release.
