Man kann mit 

dhclient -d -1 -sf /lib/univention-installer/dhclient-script-wrapper \
     -e dhclientscript_outputfile=/tmp/dhclient.txt

zertstörungsfrei abfragen, was der DHCP Server antwortet. Das lässt sich noch weiter anpassen durch Verwendeung eines erweiterten dhclient-script-wrapper bzw. durch Angabe eines -cf configfile. Da dhclient so nicht als Daemon gestartet wird, muss man dann extra ein geeignetes Signal zum Abbrechen hinterherschicken.
