Ich habe das Paket open-vm-tools aus squeeze in unseren scope ucs3.0-2 importiert, das Bauen und Installieren ging problemslos. Debian sid bietet eine deutlich neuere Version von open-vm-tools, aber wir bleiben bei der Version aus squeeze.

Ich hab keine weiteren funktionalen Tests mit den Tools aus dem Paket gemacht, weil ich für solche VMs noch keine Test-Umgebung habe.

OK, Installation ist möglich, wenn unmaintained eingebunden ist.
