Apache startet nicht nach Update auf UCS 3.1 (Amazon EC2 ami)

Nach einem Update eines mit dem "offiziellen" EC2 AMI über den Appliance Mode aufgesetzten Systems startet der Apache nicht mehr automatisch. Evtl. besteht ein Zusammenhang mit Bug #29838

Ich war scheinbar zu ungeduldig, zwischen möglichem ssh-Login und Start des Apache scheint >1 Minute zu vergehen.
