Image download of a tar.gz compressed image is by magnitudes faster then downloading the raw image as done by the toolkit.

Especially for desktop images or custom images, downloaded over the Internet from our servers (service.univention.de) the difference is noticeable.

(As would be the Bandwidth costs ;-)
