Univention Bugzilla – Bug 34426
wide links configuration isn't compatible with unix extensions
Last modified: 2020-07-03 20:55:03 CEST
A partner reported that setting the UCR variable samba/wide_links to "yes" isn't sufficient. In addition the Samba variable "unix extensions" had to be set to "no". At the moment this requires a manual configuration in /etc/samba/local.conf. Setting samba/wide_links should automatically disable unix extensions.
Agreed, the incompatibility between enabled wide_links and the Unix extensions is by design, there was a security advisory some years ago on that matter: http://www.samba.org/samba/news/symlink_attack.html
