Univention Bugzilla – Bug 35719
display error message instead of traceback when connection to LDAP server fails
Last modified: 2015-01-08 13:59:53 CET
(In reply to Florian Best from Bug #34244 comment #9) > We received also the following remark: > der Fehler tritt auf, wenn das Dateisystem voll ist (zu viele Logdateien). > Man kann sich dann nicht mehr bei der UMC anmelden, da der Fehler unten > auftritt. As we received that side note we could adapt the error message to also mention that the available/free disk size should be checked and give the hint to free resources (also RAM, ...) to minimize the load. +++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #34244 +++ We received multiple tracebacks that the LDAP Server can not be contacted. Instead of a traceback a meaningful message should be shown. The exception could be catched in the module loading of UMC. LDAP_ConnectionError: Opening LDAP connection failed: {'desc': "Can't contact LDAP server"}

* On a DC slave now the message "Check the available hard disk space and RAM on the domaincontroller master" occurs. * Not everybody knows what RAM is. Please use a more common term like memory/etc. Maybe something like: Make sure enough disk space and free memory is available [if-non-master] on this system and the domaincontoller master[/if-non-master].
