Ubuntu preceise contains backports of the 14.10 kernel (based on Linux 3.16) and 14.10 Xorg (based on Xserver 1.16). These are already available through the weekly Ubuntu mirror sync.

We should consider for UCC 2.1 to switch the kernel/xorg in the default image to these updated kernels/drivers. The updated hardware support would provide support for Intel Baytrail systems (among others).
