IBM x3650 is unable to use network interfaces with latest installer DVD - missing firmware

Workaround: Switch to text console (ALT-F2) # cd / # ar x /cdrom/firmware/firmware-bnx2_*deb # tar xvzf data.tar.gz Switch back to debian installer Jump to menu and reselect network setup entry The modules are loaded automatically and installation continues without flaws.
You should probably first check why ~phahn/src/extern/debian-installer/packages/hw-detect/check-missing-firmware.sh doen't detect and load the missing firmware

Debian bug #725714: newer kernel do not support /dev/.udev/firmware-missing and /run/udev/firmware-missing any longer. The latest version of check-missing-firmware.sh of hw-detect implements a workaround. Version 1fda53e722375a3ea580f465f7e716d9a3b5da36 of check-missing-firmware.sh from git://anonscm.debian.org/d-i/hw-detect.git has been added via a patch for hw-detect. Added patches/hw-detect/1.92/1.92-ucs4.1-1/0002-Bug-40630-Missing_firmware_support_for_newer_kernels.patch Package: hw-detect Version: 1.92.6.201602121552 User: sschwardt Branch: ucs_4.1-0-ucs4.1-1 Scope: ucs4.1-1 A test installation on IBM x3650 was successfull. No network interface problems encountered.
