With the debian/*.univention-l10n meta files (cf., Bug 42260), it would be now possible to auto-generate PO and MO files with a corresponding debian helper tool (similar to dh-umc-module-build/-install). This would allow us to replace various package specific routines for generating/updating PO/MO files.

In fact, we are implementing this for UCS 4.2
