Univention Bugzilla – Bug 42905
Remove Samba3 from UCS@school installer
Last modified: 2017-04-11 17:45:39 CEST
Do we still need to offer Samba3 in the UCS@school installer?
I would vote to remove it. I can remember only one customer still using it in @school-Multi-Server-Environments and there are no new installations in that domain. Also, telling attendees of trainings and workshops "please don't click on that" everytime isn't that fun.

If Samba 3 is detected locally or on DC master, an error message is shown: "This UCS domain uses Samba 3 which is no longer supported by UCS@school. Please update all domain systems to samba 4 to be able to continue." Package: ucs-school-umc-installer Version: 5.0.0-6A~4.2.0.201703101548 Branch: ucs_4.2-0 Scope: ucs-school-4.2
OK: code changes OK: changelog OK: manual tests: master: s4 + slave: -- master: s4 + slave: s4 master: s3 + slave: -- master: -- + slave: s3 master: -- + slave: -- I don't like, that the tests are done _after_ telling the user that all necessary information for the installation has been gathered, and that the installation can now start. It'd be better if the tests were done before telling the users "we are ready to install". A separate bug was created for it: Bug #43821.
