Univention Bugzilla – Bug 48114
univention-domain-join: Add support for Ubuntu 18.10
Last modified: 2019-07-11 13:44:47 CEST
Currently the univention-domain-join package is not available for Ubuntu 18.10. It should be tested, adjusted if necessary, built and uploaded to the PPA. +++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #35981 +++ We should create and distribute a graphical tool to join an Ubuntu client into a UCS domain. The tool should ask for the domain name and the admin credentials.

It seems like the package auth-client-config has not yet been published for Ubuntu 18.10: https://launchpad.net/auth-client-config/+packages It may be available in the future, because it is listed as a missing package for Ubuntu 18.10 on launchpad: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/cosmic/+missingpackages?field.name_filter=auth-client-config Until this problem is resolved, there is no point in releasing univention-domain-join for Ubuntu 18.10. I'm not sure who decides when / whether auth-client-config is published for this Ubuntu release. Please comment on this bug, if the problem is too urgent to wait for auth-client-config to be released for Ubuntu 18.10. In this case a replacement would have to be found or written.
Can't we build it in our ppa?
@Comment 3: I was able to build packages for Ubuntu 18.10, so I guess it would work at launchpad, too. You can find the binary packages here: http://jenkins.knut.univention.de:8080/job/Mitarbeiter/job/Richard%20Ulmer/job/Build_univention_domain_join_ubuntu18.10/
auth-client-config has now been published in our ppa for Ubuntu 18.10. I also published the join client for Ubuntu 18.10 after that. It seems like it works without any changes since Ubuntu 18.04. See: https://launchpad.net/~univention-dev/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages
