Univention Bugzilla – Bug 48630
Request to support Microsoft RemoteApps in UCS Portal
Last modified: 2020-08-28 10:21:11 CEST
Client likes to place links on the UCS Portal to Microsoft RemoteApps like it is possible in Microsoft WebAccess (https://images.techhive.com/images/idge/imported/article/nww/2010/01/morimoto-tsweb-100276495-orig.jpg).
Please clarify the feature request: The request is to execute locally installed programs on the users PC when clicking a portal tile?
Correct. To do so may make sense if such links are only visible for specific groups of users / client images where the installation of the local software can be ensured.

Can you tag the bug with the corresponding Customer ID? Furthermore how can you determine that the local software is installed? The other features seems to be already configurable?

The feature Request arrived as an idea from Andy Moser withput any known customer ID over the univention Blog: https://www.univention.de/blog-de/2018/07/gestalten-sie-das-ucs-portal-ganz-einfach-per-drag-drop/. The client-management solution is responsible for software installations on the client machines. If further verfication of installed software is needed, one could utilize a simple powershell script, which checks the existence of the respective executables on the client machines. Such checks only make sense IMO if the machine locked into the Univention Portal is evaluated and the portal links are shown in respect to the installed software on the machine. This functionality would be similar to a local OS startmenu.
The portal currently focusses on web apps and should not have dependencies on software installed on the device.
