DC Backup server can not join into an UCS@school domain from installation cd

A dc backup server can not join into an UCS@school domain if joined inside the chroot env of the installation cd. The problem seems to be that the "40ucs-school-import-http-api.inst" join script fails.

Using our appliances works, a reboot before starting the join should also help.

A "service rabbitmq-server start" at the beginning of the join script seems to do the trick.

Note:
systemd does not work in a chroot. "service" falls back to use the init script if one exists, which is the case for "rabbitmq-server"

Will this bug affect UCS 5 when not fixed? Or is the installer at least partially rewritten with UCS 5?
Comment 2 Erik Damrose univentionstaff 2020-07-01 14:41:24 CEST
UCS 5 will only install the required packages from DVD and then do a reboot, which means the actual installation and domain join is done in an appliance setup - so this should work with UCS 5

This hit me today in a customer workshop (customer-id is pending).

With Bug #52770 being fixed, this was the first installation in a long time where I tried to join a UCS Backup into an UCS@school domain directly during the inital installation without a reboot.

This might simply work / is not relevant anymore in UCS 5.0 as the installation process has been changed.

This issue has been filed against UCS 4.4.

UCS 4.4 is out of maintenance and UCS components have vastly changed in later releases. Thus, this issue is now being closed.

As pointed out this should not happen anymore with UCS 5.0 as the installation process changed, but if it still occurs in newer UCS versions, please use "Clone this bug" or reopen this issue. In this case please provide detailed information on how this issue is affecting you.
