When opening the portal sidenavigation (menu button in the top right corner) the rest of the portal gets darker to have some kind of a highlight effect. This effect is not even throughout the portal. After the sidenavigation has opened the colours of the background differ a bit from each other and you can see edges as a result of it where the portal tiles are located (see screenshot).
