The description of portal/admin-groups reads:

Groups that are regarded as portal admins. Enables the edit mode for these users (if available). Separate multiple groups by comma. An empty value disables the edit mode. Default: "Domain Admins"

Yet, you need DNs, not just names. We need to adjust the documentation of the UCRV. And double check the manual.
