Description Sönke Schwardt-Krummrich univentionstaff 2014-11-24 14:11:20 CET
A special message of the day (motd) should be shown during ssh/console logins if system-setup has been aborted during installation or if the text mode installation has been used.

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #36968 +++

During installation if USS has been aborted via Strg-q/ctrl-q (or something else bad happened), a message should be shown that the configuration of the system has been aborted and is continued on the next boot via USS in graphical mode or via web browser.

A similar message should be shown when the text mode installation when package/GRUB installation is done and before cleanup/reboot.

The UCR template motd.setup has been modified and creates a message for Amazon AMIs if the UCR variable server/amazon is set. Otherwise a d-i system setup message is generated, that describes that the server is not configured yet.

The message is now also activated during installation if
- text mode installation has been used or
- the browser has been closed via Strg-q/ctrl-q or USS has somehow failed/been
  aborted.
This is achieved by setting system/setup/showloginmessage=true

Comment 2 Sönke Schwardt-Krummrich univentionstaff 2014-12-01 13:58:08 CET
The message is only shown if univention-pam is installed. This is currently not always the case → Bug 37129.

OK: r56248 r56239
OK: ucr get system/setup/showloginmessage
FIXED: 2014-11-21-univention-system-setup.yaml → r56394
OK: announce_errata -V 2014-11-21-univention-system-setup.yaml

FAIL: /etc/motd.setup exists but is not shown because univention-pam is not installed
FAIL: This renders this bug mostly useless as the message should be printed during univention-system-setup-boot, where univention-pam is not installed.

Until then I consider this issue not to be resolved - it should not be released as-is → REOPEN
Comment 4 Philipp Hahn univentionstaff 2014-12-03 11:26:34 CET
Bug 37129 will be fixed later - for now the modified motd is okay.
