Die Rolle wurde im Bug #27633 einfach auskommentiert. Sie sollte wieder aufgenommen werden, sobald die zugrunde liegenden Probleme behoben sind.

Vielleicht muss man nur univention-management-console explizit installieren, damit es bei apt-get auto-remove nicht deinstalliert wird.

Screenshot aus der virtuellen Maschine. Firebug wurde installiert.

Reproduzieren:

1. Ein Appliance Image ziehen
2. In die virtuelle Maschine wechseln
3. Auf der Seite "System Role" Base auswählen
4. Die restlichen Felder ausfüllen, "Apply" klicken

Das System wird beim konfigurieren hängenbleiben, mutmaßlich, weil Base kein
UMC braucht und deshalb deinstalliert wird.

Viel Schlimmer als die Deinstallation der UMC ist die Deinstallation von univention-pam: Bei der Entfernung des Pakets wird auch /etc/pam.d/common-auth entfernt, so daß danach keine Anmeldung mehr funktioniert.
