Description Philipp Hahn univentionstaff 2013-05-22 11:54:01 CEST
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #31379 +++
The default icons in UMC are more or less gray in gray (with some shades of black and white). The 16×16 pixel area is also reduced by some extra gray border, which reduces the usable are to something like 12×12 pixels. This makes is very hard to create *recognizable* icons.

This is especially dangerous for UVMM, since the box-icon for the "pull the plug" button to turn off a VM looks too harmless.

I would appreciate a design, where buttons are better recognized as buttons and which use more colors to more easily find the hot areas.

New common UMC icons

The attached file re-creates the common UMC icons directly from SVG files: They don't have the gray border any more and are thus larger than the previous set.

The current icon set also uses css:hover to show colorized icons when the mouse is over the icon. This currently has the draw-back, that the normal black&white version is too dark, since the call to "convert -threashold" produces only black.

Comment from Stefan:
- the black is too dark
- the size change changes the layout too much; needs to be checked by Designers
- color: also needs to be checked

Do you have a screenshot with the changes being applied?

Most icons do usually have a border around them, they could indeed be increased by removing the border.

We could also use icons from http://iconmonstr.com .

Maybe better with UCS4 now.

In fact, we are using icons from iconmonstr since UCS 4.0.
