Description Philipp Hahn univentionstaff 2016-01-14 21:52:21 CET
The univention-welcome-screen blocks kdm from starting up. You have to explicitly switch to the command line, login as root and have to restart kdm.

7× times during UCS technical training (Task #3530)
Installed UCS_4.1-0_amd64.iso (errata14), updated during install to erratum55

Wasn't there a link with "Looking for a desktop?"?

No: The screen did stay at the text console for ~1 minute, before the welcome screen suddenly popped up.
KDM did not start automatically.
There was only a link to go back to the text console, but not to KDM.

We should check this while working on Bug 39241. I left a note there.

I checked the behavior at Bug 39241, the adapted welcome screen respects a configured window manager and will not show up.
